This blog is based on my personal Bali trip experience and is written to help Indians plan their first international vacation smoothly. If you are planning your first international trip or looking for a destination that offers beaches, culture, nightlife, adventure, and romance—all in a reasonable budget—Bali, Indonesia is one of the best choices for Indian travelers.

In this travel blog, I am not just sharing places, but also real experiences, practical tips, hidden costs, and mistakes to avoid, so that your Bali trip becomes smooth and memorable.

Why Bali Is a Perfect International Destination for Indians?

Bali is popular among Indians because:

  • Visa on Arrival is easy
  • Flights are affordable
  • Food options (including Indian veg) are easily available
  • Perfect for couples, honeymooners & friends
  • Good mix of relaxation + adventure

My personal opinion: Bali gives you a luxury international feel at an Indian-budget level, which is rare.

Arrival in Bali & Immigration Experience

Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport is modern and well managed. Immigration is smooth if your documents are ready.

Bali Visa on Arrival (VOA) for Indians

  • Visa fee: IDR 500,000 or USD 30–35 (~₹2500–3000)
  • Payment mode: Cash (USD/IDR) or card (Visa/Mastercard)
  • Validity: 30 days (single entry)
  • Extensions: You can get this validity extended by paying a fees for usage for next 30 day at any Bali local immigration office.

Pro Tip: Apply for e-VOA online before departure. It saves 20–30 minutes at the airport, especially during peak season.

Documents You Should Carry

Even if not asked, always keep:

  • Return flight ticket
  • Hotel booking confirmation
  • Passport with at least 6 months validity

Best Area to Stay in Bali (From Experience)

For first-time visitors, Kuta is the safest and most convenient option.

Why Kuta?

  • Close to airport
  • Plenty of hotels for every budget
  • Beach clubs, restaurants & markets nearby
  • Easy pickups for tours

Hotel Budget

  • Budget hotels: ₹2000–3000
  • 4-star hotel with breakfast: ~₹3500

My suggestion: Don’t over-spend on hotels in Bali. You’ll be out most of the day exploring.

Airport to Hotel Transport Options

  • Taxi: ₹600–₹1000 (recommended after long flight)
  • Public Bus (K02): ₹50 (only if traveling light)

After immigration + luggage, taxi is worth the comfort.

Exploring South Bali – Culture & Sunset Views

Garuda Vishnu Cultural Park (GWK)

This park gives you a glimpse of Bali’s cultural identity.

  • Entry ticket: ₹750
  • Shuttle inside park: ₹200

The massive statue of Lord Vishnu on Garuda is impressive, but the real value lies in understanding Balinese culture through shows and architecture.

Uluwatu Temple – More Than Just a Temple

Uluwatu Temple is not only a religious place but also a scenic cliff-side viewpoint.

  • Entry fee: ₹250
  • Best time: Evening (for sunset)

Important Tip: Monkeys here are notorious. Avoid carrying sunglasses, caps, or loose items.

Kecak Dance Show – Cultural Experience You Shouldn’t Miss

This Ramayana-based performance is unique because:

  • No instruments are used
  • Entire music is created using human voices

Ticket: ₹750

My take: Even if you’re not into cultural shows, watch this one. It’s entertaining and meaningful.

Nusa Penida – The Highlight of Bali Trip

If someone asks me “What is the best part of Bali?”, my answer is Nusa Penida.

How to Reach

  • Kuta → Sanur Port
  • Ferry ride: 45 minutes

Places Covered in Day Trip

  • Angel Billabong

  • Kelingking Beach (iconic viewpoint)
  • Crystal Beach (perfect for swimming)

Scooter or Car – What’s Better?

  • Scooter: Good for backpackers & friends
  • Car: Best for couples, families & honeymooners

Honest advice: The heat is extreme. If budget allows, always choose a car.

Nusa Penida Trip Cost

₹3500–₹4000 per person, including:

  • Hotel pickup & drop
  • Ferry tickets
  • Local sightseeing
  • Lunch

This makes it one of the most value-for-money experiences in Bali.

Internet & SIM Card in Bali

  • SIM price: ₹1200 onwards
  • Data: 34GB

Buy at airport to avoid confusion later.

Bali Nightlife – Beach Clubs Experience

Bali’s nightlife is classy, fun, and safe.

Best Beach Clubs

  • Atlas Beach Club
  • Potato Head
  • Finns Beach Club (Best overall)

Free entry till 3–4 PM
After that: ₹750–₹1500

My personal favourite: Finns – free entry, great crowd, insane vibes.

Romantic Dinner in Bali (Couple Special)

If you’re on honeymoon or couple trip, plan at least one special dinner.

Kuta Social Club

  • Rooftop & poolside seating
  • Indian veg food available
  • Romantic ambience

Small detail that matters: Inform staff if it’s a special occasion—they often decorate the table.
